Edith Prudente

Edith Prudente is a Chester County and Avalon resident who has been inspired to paint and draw since childhood. Her work includes a variety of subjects that are executed in finest quality Sennelier oil pastel. At a recent exhibition, art critic R.B. Strauss in a review states, “Edith Prudente wields her pastels like an architect and her work has a hushed quality that is utterly charming”.
Edith served an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art before earning a BFA at Moore College of Art. She completed her MFA at Tyler School of Art and continues to work full time in her studio; she also frequents museums and studies master’s drawings.

As a past and present member of the Oil Pastel Society of America, Delaware County Art League, Philadelphia Watercolor Club, Chester County Art Association, Edith has participated in many exhibitions and received numerous awards. She has exhibited at Historic Yellow Springs for over a decade, The Bianco Foundation, Haverford Juried Art Show, ArtForms Gallery, Longwood Gallery, William Ris Gallery and the Woodmere Art Museum. She recently was commissioned to design the bottle labels for a local winery. She received the prestigious Kendal Award for her portrait work presented by a state senator representing the Bianco Foundation.
