Born and raised in Berwyn, IL, Janice left her childhood attempts at painting behind her in trade for the tools of her first profession as a hair stylist. For nearly 30 years she has helped her clients express themselves, and bring their inner beauty to the surface. Recently she recognized a parallel between the artwork she created as a child and her profession as an adult, both being about color and movement, and began the transition from hair brush to paint brush bringing out the beauty of ordinary life.

Oil pastels were introduced to Janice by George Shipperley and she instantly fell in love with them and traded her paint brush for a razor blade and a rag.  Over the last few years Janice has studied under George, perfecting her technique on many surfaces including board, canvas, foam core, and suede for her work.

In addition to continuing to advance her art, she enjoys the energy of painting with fellow artists, sharing knowledge, and creating awareness of oil pastelists as fine artists.
