Kathy Jublou

The shadows, light, and movement of an object are the hooks that draw me in to further study.  While my favorite subjects tend to be organic, the dramatic light also inspires me as it crosses the bends and folds of an interesting piece of statuary.  I love the challenge of sculpting a three dimensional appearance in my drawings.  My goal is to create a work of art that invites one to step into the scene and take a journey. When a viewer accepts this invitation and takes the trip wherever it may go, then I know that I've successfully shared the inspiration that hooked me in the first place.

I am an abstract expressionist, who interprets reality into fantasy expressed in terms of shapes, structures, color, and light.  To achieve this, I have developed my own interpretation of the pointillism technique most notably associated with the works of Georges-Pierre Seurat.  I use oil pastels on canvas, and love the immediacy of the medium.  Since oil pastels never truly dry, I seal each piece with multiple layers of polymer, and frame it unimpeded by the distortion of glass. It is then ready for the journey each viewer takes through my art.
