Lori’s artwork ranges from whimsical prairie landscapes, still life, beloved pets and even through to the abstract.  The act of creating and the creative process is enjoyed as much as, if not more than, viewing final outcome.  From concept to completion, she savours the lessons taught by each piece.  By incorporating a philosophy of it’s not what one paints, but how one paints and that one practises the action of painting; she has begun a journey of discovery with colour and medium.  She deeply enjoys drawing buildings and structures that are askew and somewhat surreal and has been known to interject some playful quality into her work.   Her primary goal is not recreate reality, but create something entirely new, different and unexpected.  She is comfortable using a wide range of mediums to achieve her works.  Currently, her preferred choices are acrylic paints and oil pastels.  For the past two years Lori has studied the mediums of acrylic painting and figurative drawing with Professional Artist  Milos Milidrag (MFA - University of Belgrade).  Lessons taught have spilled over into all aspects of her artwork, regardless of medium.  In addition to her art, Lori is a Certified Engineering Technologist and has volunteered on the Board of Directors for The Laurel Centre, a non-profit organization that councils sexually abused women and children in Winnipeg, MB.
